Horizons Taekwondo is fun for the entire family, no matter what the age. Whether you are an experienced Martial Arts athlete or just beginning, you will be a welcome member of our club.
We run three sessions during the school year - Fall (mid-Sep to mid-Dec), Winter (Jan to Mar) and Spring (Apr to Jun) - and a reduced summer programme (July to mid-Aug). We encourage children and adults alike to get outside and enjoy summer sports and activities.
Club members participate in Provincial and/or Regional tournaments as their personal interests dictate. No-one in our club feels pressure to compete ... it's up to you.
Active Start (age 3 to 5 years) ... These classes concentrate on the physical ABCs - Agility, Balance and Coordination - through games and basic Taekwondo skills. Emphasis is on fun.
FUNdamentals (age 5 to 9 years) ... This age group continues to improve their ABCs and begins to work toward developing strength, speed and power in executing Taekwondo skills. Emphasis with this age group is fun and discipline.
Kids (age 8 to 14 years) ... Children in this group have more developed physical and mental skills. The class is fast paced and geared to the needs of children. Some independent practice is required during class. If your child is in this age group, but is ready for more challenge, (s)he is welcome to try the Adult Class. Emphasis is on learning and playing the game.
Senior (age 12 and up) ... At least one hour of the class is devoted to aerobic and muscular fitness through Taekwondo practice. This class is high energy. Because we all have different fitness, age and injury levels, everyone needs to monitor themselves. Make sure to take a break if you need a breather. Let the instructor know if you need to modify an exercise for an existing condition.
